The People Under the Stairs

Vortex Park’s Underneath

go down!

In the MTV Unplugged session of life, you’re the quintessential solo act. Back-up singers need not apply.

Bring your acoustical exploits to Vortex Park’s Underneath, the underground West Midtown jam lair now available for booking shows and rocking out.

Vortex Park front man Alex Wolf converted the band’s practice garage into a plush, candlelit, listening den that can hold small bands and about 25 fans. The rotating art comes courtesy of Wolf’s pals at local Gallery Street.

You can get on the guest list for shows (if you’re lucky — they regularly book sold-out gigs for Five Spot-esque acts) or arrange one of your own: Drop-down screen, digital projector, visualizer, beer-stocked fridge, and primo sound system included. Wolf tapes and mixes show recordings, so you have a memento when all is said and done.

’Cuz you ain’t gotta go home.

But, well, you know.
