Spark Notes
Microwave Girl Cards

Radiation review:
- Sunscreen = good.
- Tanning = bad.
- Pressing your face to the microwave while lightning strikes your house = very superbad.
Amazingly, 5-year-old Kate Thurman survived that last one unscathed. Years later, she caught another spark and started a quirky line of note cards under her school-age superhero name, Microwave Girl.
Thurman’s work is inspired by sayings, themes, and thoughts from her North Carolina childhood. Blank cards feature a mix of ’70s-cool illustrations; Eastern motif “Thank You” notes are scrawled in bold hues; “Happy No Particular Holiday” epithets are right for any occasion; and high-fivers unite under “Awesome!”
Additionally, every set is charged with extra love: Kate hand-presses each one using a Japanese Gocco printing machine.
Get ’em while they’re hot.
