Down and Dirty

There are few things in life more intriguing than the farmer’s tan. One of them being the sort of man who can pull it off.

Prepare to put down roots at Farmer D Organics Garden Center.

Georgia Organics VP Daron Joffe’s sunny new shop inspires you to get your hands dirty. Stop in for tools and gadgets (the compact composting machines are recyclable), birdhouses, and Joffe’s private-label soil (he composts for Whole Foods stores in the Southeast and sells the byproduct to local outlets).

This spring, Joffe will add citrus trees and organic veggies to the houseplants and herbs he nurtures using all-natural soil and TLC. Until then, tide yourself over with picks from the open-to-the-public book collection.

A baby chick incubator is on the way.

And, no, you can’t sleep there.
