Remember those girls in kindergarten who cut perfect Valentine hearts and holiday snowflakes with doily precision? Too bad safety scissors never put an eye out.
We’re glad we poked around with Addiction shopkeeper Nikki Salk, though. Otherwise, she may have kept her paper sculpture line, Charta Aeterna (Latin for “eternal paper”), in her craft cubby.
Although she’s dabbled for years, Salk recently began displaying her handiwork — intricate structures cut from layer upon layer of plain white Bristol sheets — in-store and on the web.
Salk takes requests (commissions have included winged lions, sailing ships, and architecture) to produce nuanced, monochromatic pieces worthy of any mantel.
And nobody has to get hurt.
