It doesn’t take much digging to see that Southport Avenue has turned into Baby Buggy Central.
So imagine our delight to unearth its newest gem, The Music Playhouse.
The early childhood music program for ages newborn to 6 years just moved from its home in Sheil Park to a colorful, 1,100-square-foot storefront. High-energy classes use instruments (egg shakers, maracas, triangles), songs, and movement (sit down, stand up, scarf dance) to engage kids and their parents or caregivers.
The most popular class, Pups, combines ages newborn to 5, so wee ones follow cues from older peers, and older kids take pride in being role models. That’s also a bonus for you: No schlepping sibs to different classes.
Plus, every family goes home with recordings and sheet music for the material covered in class. That’s something you’ll surely dig.
The Music Playhouse, 3829 North Southport Avenue, between Byron and Grace Streets. Ten-week sessions start at $160 (rates are lower for siblings). Winter session starts today; register at 773-572-8054 or online at themusicplayhouse.com.
