Put Pedal to Asphalt on the New Balance Hubway

Bike-Sharing Stations Throughout the City

Slip on the spandex and strap on the fanny pack: New Balance Hubway is here. The bike-sharing program launches Thursday with 600 cycles at 61 kiosks, lending an exhaust-free means to explore the city. To celebrate, we asked some local Lance types to share their favorite cycling spots.

South Boston
LeRoy Watkins from MyBike Online points newbies toward the Carson Beach bayside route for its “nice, open ride.” We recommend a midroute slushie at the beach’s concession stand.

Fort Point
For its “low traffic zone,” Urban AdvenTours marketing director Danielle Tarloff swears by the waterfront. “I love riding along the harborwalk and popping in to say hello to the seals at the aquarium,” she says.

Mike Wissell from Back Bay Bicycles laps the northern edge of Franklin Park Zoo to check out the Long Crouch Woods area. “The old bear cages are really neat!”

Jack Pelletier, owner of recently opened Ashmont Cycles in Peabody Square, recommends a leisurely summer evening ride on the Neponset River Greenway Trail: After the trolley line, it goes through Pope John Paul II Park and then on to Tenean Beach.

Meet you there.
