Fashion writer: Another round, barkeep.
Bartender: You seem down, Styles.
FW: My boyfriends are baggy; my skinnies are stretched. It’s a case of the downtrodden denim blues.
B: Cheer up. The Blues Jean Bar just opened on Newbury Street.
FW: What’s brewing there?
B: It’s the first East Coast outlet of the specialty chain whose sole mission is to find you the perfect hip-hugger.
FW: Sounds intoxicating.
B: First, you sidle up to a 22-foot-long bar made from reclaimed barn wood, where a jeantender listens as you rattle off your every last dungaree desire — fit, wash, cut, even pocket size.
FW: Let me drink this in.
B: Put in your order, head to the dressing room, and your jeantender serves you a flight of styles from some 25 designers, such as James Jeans, Kasil, Doctrine, and Genetic Denim.
FW: Who will cut me off?
B: The staff prides itself on honesty and would rather you walk out with one great-fitting pair than three so-so purchases.
FW: You’ve officially lifted my spirits.
