Toca Train, an iPhone, iPod, and iPad app for the preschool set, gives kids the conductor’s seat in a virtual train. They’re destined for fun as they simulate a drive through colorful illustrated scenes — changing speed, winding through tunnels, and blowing a whistle along the way.

The app keeps problem-solving skills on track as players choose to pick up and drop off passengers or load up cargo (crates of fruit, burlap sacks). Swipe and pinch a lever for engaging new camera angles.

Talk about a thrill ride.
