For Paul Niski, Good wasn’t quite good enough.
Until a move down the street allowed his diminutive Beacon Hill gift store to blossom into a spacious shop filled with modern-rustic furniture, home goods, fashion, and jewelry.
On our wish list: Two Hippies leather envelope clutches, beaded necklaces from London’s Fiona Paxton, and Linear-B chunky sweaters (these temperate days won’t last forever).
DbO’s honeycomb-patterned porcelain bowls, Lostine double-thick chopping boards, 19th-century glass wine bottles, and woven hampers from Peterboro Basket Co. are just a few registry-worthy finds. Gift an expectant pal a newborn’s cashmere cap from Anne-Claire Petit.
As if his stock of seen-nowhere-else designs wasn’t enough, Niski launched the New England Modern Collection, a series of creative collaborations with his favorite regional artisans. First up: side tables, milk stools, and highboys from Richard Watson, a woodworking duo based out of Brookline; and unisex brass and silver bangles from Cape Cod jeweler Kara Ryan.
It’s all good.
