Cask and Culture Homeschools on Cheese and Brews

Self-improvement never tasted so good

cask and culture!

Home Ec 101 Progress Report

General Remarks
Suzy snoozed through sewing and table settings. She does, however, show an enviable aptitude for party foods.

Independent Study
She’s been supplementing classwork with Cask and Culture’s cheese- and beer-making seminars led by Brad Jones and Chris Maggiolo. Gastronomy grad students at BU, the two pooled their respective loves of curds and wheat to teach small, in-home group classes.

Homework Completion
In four hours, Suzy and her friends learned the ins and outs of cultures, rennets, hops, and yeast. Jones and Maggiolo helped source the proper equipment, so she could practice on her own. They even demonstrated how to build a small cheese cave for aged blends.

Class Participation
She proved a bit of a know-it-all, thanks to additional Beer 101 and Cheese 101 workshops, which armed her with an exasperating array of obscure terminology. (Seriously, what’s a crystal malt?)

Extra Credit
Suzy brought in samples of her first fermented brew last week. Must admit: Grading was a lot easier that night.
