Nature show narrator:
Here, we see the native food shopper in unfamiliar surroundings. Accustomed to swarms of cut-rate products at her chain grocer, she’s gone sweet on the bounty at Bee’s Knees Supply Co., the new gourmet market from Jason Owens (American Provisions, M3, Local 149) opening tomorrow.
Watch her fly straight to the meat counter stocked with restaurant-quality cuts from Milton’s Kenneally Meats. From there, she hovers over the cheese station and its hundreds of regional and European finds, then circles the fish counter to peruse the local haul, including oysters and clams.
After combing through house-made charcuterie (salumi, terrines, pâté) and pre-prepared meals (game hens, smoked duck legs), our intrepid explorer finally pollinates her nectarous desires by choosing from more than 300 wine and craft beer selections.
Her ambrosial reward? The Chocolate Cafe from Jen Turner (Blue Tierra Chocolates), which serves French macarons, Batch ice cream, and fresh juices and smoothies. One more honey of a discovery on the way out: custom bouquets from Forêt Design.
She’ll bee back.
Bee’s Knees Supply Co., 12 Farnsworth Street, Fort Point (617-292-2337 or beeskneessupply.com). Due to storm-related delivery delays, the official opening date has been pushed to Monday, March 25.
