Five New Restaurants Worth Another Feast

Here’s what’s been cooking while you were sleeping off turkey

You’ve had four days to digest — it’s time to get back out there. Here’s the skinny on the city’s latest openings.

Ward 8
Bouillabaisse amid the bucatini. The just-opened American brasserie, housed in the former Nebo Cucina & Enoteca spot, shakes up the North End experience with maple-chili duck wings, curried mussels, and steak frites. Befitting a spot named after the classic (and Boston-born) cocktail, drinks skew potent and old-school (Pisco sour, gin fizz).

Bondir
It’s your favorite date night spot larger. Jason Bond recreates his harvest-influenced, daily-changing menu (sweet potato custard tartine, truffle-topped spaghetti, antelope leg) in a 100-seat space with exposed brick walls, fireplace (look for the wood stashed beneath the banquette seating), and antique decorations. Did we mention he nabbed a full liquor license for this one?

Row 34
Prefer your menus all-killer, no filler? The Island Creek Oyster Bar team has obliged with an industrial clam shack gifting us year-round fried clams, steamed littlenecks, grilled swordfish, and hot and cold lobster rolls. Raw bar offerings include smoked salmon roulade, striped bass ceviche, and six different oysters, all best chased by a local brew.

Mei Mei
The new dinner service reflects a true departure: confit beef tongue and kung pao chicken dip to start, smoked beef shank to continue, and five spheres chicken to share. What hasn’t changed: a commitment to seasonal ingredients and the almost-too-nice-to-be-true staff.

Ostra
The octopus mural is the clue: This is not a place for landlubbers. The group behind Mistral, Mooo, and Teatro has installed Maine native Mitchell Randall to oversee a menu of poached and grilled fish (including lesser known catches like bream), East Coast oysters, and a wine list that leans white. Oh, and a piano bar.
