By now you know the drill so well, you barely have to read the invite:
What: Watery cocktails and stale prattle about New England winters.
Where: Duh. Beacon Hill.
Why: Probably to benefit the latest MGH wing.
In attendance: Swamp Yankees swapping Exeter stories.
Dress: Last week’s outfit.
Same causes. Same faces. Same talk. Same diff.
Is it any wonder Boston’s real partyers would rather be boiled in oil than go to another yawnfest on the flagging charity circuit?
That’s reason enough to ditch the Lilly Pulitzer and hit the Charles Hotel for a new bash benefiting the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center. This ain’t your usual corporation-indebted crew. It’s a grassroots push by young, happening companies (beauty boutique Beauty and Main and local jewelry designer Jane Ciccone) to raise dough for a cause that’s historically been sent to the back of the charity line.
The result?
New buzz. New party. New faces.
In which case, maybe it’s even time for a new outfit.
