The Leather Channel

Maybe you’ve knitted a cozy wool wrap and feel like it looks a bit, well, homemade. Or maybe you shelled out for the ubiquitous mass-manufactured poncho, only to find it now has more pills than Pfizer.

The antidote? A Brooke Scott leather cape or scarf. The handcut, handknotted webby pieces drape ever so casually around shoulders and can elevate just about any outfit to edginess. (Can granny’s wool shawl do that?)

The line comes in tones from jewel to metallic. If rock princess is more your style, go for white. (But keep the Ratt cassette to yourself.)

Oh, and word to the wise: Leather doesn’t pill. So even though you won’t look geriatric in one of these funky pieces, you’ll still be able to wear it when you actually are.

Available at Nine Months, 286 Newbury Street, between Gloucester and Hereford Streets, Back Bay, Boston (617-236-5523).
