Southern Charm

South End Style Event

south end style!

Let Newbury Street line its corporate retail coffers. And let Beacon Hill revel in preppified cuteness. If there’s one neighborhood that has unquestionably earned a lock on cutting-edge style — as found at the junction of historic and hip — it’s the South End.

And it’s about to prove as much: The South End Business Alliance is gearing up to spotlight the ‘hood’s independent-minded fashion, food, and artists at the inaugural South End Style.

That’s when Boston designers David Josef, Denise Hajjar, Alfred Fiandaca, Sara Campbell, and Daniel Faucher will show their latest, area musicians will play tunes, models will drape themselves in threads from local boutiques (like K Ko and Turtle), and nabe eateries like Icarus will dole out delights.

And somewhere in all of that will be an auction to benefit area nonprofits like United South End Settlements and Hurley Elementary School.

Giving us just about every reason to head South for the spring.

South End Style Event, Boston Center for the Arts Cyclorama, 539 Tremont Street, between Berkeley and Clarendon Streets, South End (617-375-8139 or southendbusiness.com). May 5, 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m.
