Making Scents

Nantucket Natural Oils

As winter finally melts, it’s handy to know a few things about Nantucket:

The airport call sign (ACK), in case you have to book a last-minute flight. The best beaches aren’t in the tourist guidebooks. (Try Ladies’ Beach.) How to score a table at 21 Federal on a Friday night in July without a reservation. (They sometimes take walk-ins for the outdoor patio.)

And the best-smelling Nantucket product no longer requires a pre-season trip to the island. Nantucket Natural Oils, purveyor of perfume oils, aromatherapy blends, and scented face and body products, has opened its first outpost in Boston.

Choose the oil base behind your current favorite designer scent (they’ve got just about all of ’em, and oils last longer and are more alluring) or design your own fragrance — maybe a combo of peony, orchid, mango, orange blossom, and white ginger. Or, if you’re craving things that remind you of the coming season, honeysuckle’s a winner.

So best of all, you’ll know this about Nantucket: While everyone else waits for summertime to roll around, you’ll smell like you’ve already been to the island and back.
