Little Darlings

Being a kid was a pretty good gig.

You spent weeks at a time lounging around your grandparents’ big house. Cash appeared under your pillow when you lost a tooth. And your greatest worry was figuring out how to keep lightning bugs alive through the night.

You may never want to be that young again (after all, it would mean a rematch with puberty), but you can stage a temporary return to childhood bliss with Sans Souci’s handmade fudge, toffee, and chocolates.

The name means “carefree” in French — so don’t be surprised if after the first bite you’ve magically forgotten your troubles. So go ahead and dip your grubby fingers into bittersweet chocolate bark (oh, the dried cherries and roasted pistachios), outrageous salt butter caramels (they’re dipped in bittersweet chocolate and garnished with sea salt), and better-than-brownies Marquis Bars (which sandwich silky mocha ganache).

You’re all grown up now. No one can tell you not to spoil your dinner or that it’s rude to ask for thirds.

And no one can make you share the treats during show-and-tell.
