Metal Shop

Class, today’s topic of discussion: What is the primary thing that modern-day dressing has taught us?

You in the back? Yes, that’s correct: fractured shopping. The advent of successfully individualized style has led to widespread buying from disparate sources. You know: espadrilles at Moxie, a tunic from Stel’s, a bangle or two at Lazuli.

But, class, it’s important to note that there are exceptions to this theory. Foremost, the collection of metallic goods currently at K KO. The adventurous little South End boutique has just ushered in a wave of all things sparkly and superlative — faded silver croc bags, boatnecks showered in gold sequins, Basil & Maude tanks festooned with platinum beads, steel mesh hobos by Jana Feifer, and shiny mini clutches.

Which leads us to consider an altogether different theory. Namely, that when one store does a trend this right, one-stop shopping may see a reprise.

And, no, there will not be a test. But we highly recommend a field trip.
