Of all the things you inherited from your mother, her sewing-machine savvy isn’t one of them.
Instead, you’ve been cast out into a world of overpriced drapes and throw pillows. In fact, except for those double-secret trips to the Christmas Tree Shop on Route 1, you’re paying out the nose for the basic home decor mom used to whip up while watching General Hospital.
But fret no more: Jane of All Trades offers reasonably priced custom home goods with retro flair. Owner Claudia Mastrobuono took her industrial design training and created a business for the craft-challenged.
And by “all trades,” she means just that. Whether you’re looking for the perfect valance, need a fancy duvet cover, or you’re reupholstering that odd-shaped ’60s-era couch you can’t part with, she’s there to help.
Visit her in her new space at the Vernon Street Artist Studios. She’ll even round up some of those dangly pom-poms for your bathroom curtains.
Just like mom. Minus the G.H. addiction.
Jane of All Trades, 6 Vernon Street, second floor, at Central Street, Somerville (315-727-1735 or janeofalltrades.biz).
