Photo Op

The scene: A once-in-a-lifetime family reunion. Time for a photo to capture the special moment forever.

Grandmother (taking picture): Say cheeeeeese, sweeties!

Grandson: Granny, the flash isn’t on.

Grandmother: Dirty dog! (Tries again.)

Daughter: Mom, your finger is blocking the lens.

Grandmother: Rotting rump! (Tries again. Camera freezes.)

Son-in-law: Give me the damn camera.

Really now. There must be an easier way to memorialize the moment.

And there is: Portrait Simple. Gather your clan and head over to their studios in the Atrium in Chestnut Hill or Natick Mall, where the photographers are in control of every shot. Infants, newly engaged couples, corporate or yearbook head shots, and, yes, family reunions, are but a sliver of the variety of high-end, high-quality photographs the Portrait Simple staff shoots.

All you do is show up, and your assigned photographer will choose a background and edit your proofs at one of the viewing stations during your one-hour, $24.95 session. (Yes, a bargain, too.) Pictures can be bold-cropped, magnified, developed in black and white or sepia, as artistic or traditional as you like. It’s all your call.

Guaranteed to help family portraits turn into hand-me-downs rather than arguments.

At least until it’s time to decide who gets the hand-me-down.
