Family Ties

Nosy aunts. Windbag grandpas. Jealous sisters and conniving cousins.

Is it any wonder most of us spend years trying to get away from the fam?

Not husband-and-wife team Jeremy and Lisa Sewall. Or at least not their new restaurant, Lineage, which opens today in Coolidge Corner.

You may know Jeremy as the former chef of Great Bay. But Brookline knows him as the descendant of Judge Samuel Sewall, who owned most of the town in the late 17th century. (Need proof? Lineage is right around the corner from Sewall Ave.)

His menu, meanwhile, is a culinary ode to his favorite dishes. Wood-roasted lobster. Seared scallops with gnocchi and truffles. House-smoked salmon with fingerling potato and grain mustard-chive salad. Lisa, formerly the pastry chef at L’Espalier, whips up a mean butterscotch pudding and lemon panna cotta with blood orange syrup.

Dig into all of it seated near the wood-burning oven or at the beautiful leather bar, which is big enough to fit you and everyone you know.

Just like one big, happy family.
