Yes, yes. By now you’ve heard all about the concierge service; the fireplace-anchored, 4,000-square-foot shoe section; and the drool-inducing heavyweight designers (Alaia to Zegna) in the two-floor flagship Barneys New York that opens in Copley Place today.
Yeah, yeah, we’re as aflutter about it as the next fashion junkie.
And though we couldn’t bring you as our plus-one to the opening party (sorry!), we can get you the lowdown on the up-and-comers and cult designers that you shouldn’t miss.
For starters, ’90s darling Daryl Kerrigan is back with darling twill jackets and scoop-neck tunic dresses for Daryl K-189 & Barneys Co-op. The Co-op also has big-buttoned coats in the neutrals-driven line by 3.1 Phillip Lim, plus swoon-worthy gauzy tops with lace inlays and shrunken Victorian jackets.
Also topping our list: the fresh frocks by French-born, NYC-based designer Alice Ritter, whose flowy dresses are nothing short of spring incarnate.
A shopping trip without denim? Ha. Head for the aisles full of skinny jeans from Superfine (the rage in London) and Acne Jeans (ditto, Scandinavia) — both exclusive to Barneys in these parts.
Top it all off with show-stopping trinkets from Lulu Frost (whom we’ve loved from her first pieces). Her spring line’s full of chunky and funky antique chains graced with everything from pearls to timepieces.
Consider the latter a symbol of how you wear all the best new designs.
Namely, earlier than anyone else.
Barneys New York, 100 Huntington Avenue, Copley Place, Back Bay (617-385-3300).
