The Spanish Acquisition

La Residencia Day Spa

Right about this time every summer, you wonder where your vacation is. And if you’ve already had one? You wonder why the hell you don’t get two.

Well, maybe you can. If, that is, you turn yourself in the direction of La Residencia Spa.

Owned and run by aesthetics veteran Jane Aransky, the off-the-beaten-track spot is a little slice of Mediterranean relaxation. After years of working in Spain, Aransky moved back to the States and renovated her historic home to include a day spa, naming it after a mountaintop spa in Mallorca.

And once inside the sunny spot, that’s where you might as well be. The experienced staff administers manis and pedis, hot stone and deep tissue massages, and an extensive menu of facials (treatments for problem skin, teen facials, and gentleman’s facials included) — each no less than two hours long, so guests have time to truly relax.

All in a setting as peaceful as an old home in Europe.

And every bit as much of a trip.

La Residencia Spa, 336 Elliot Street, Newton (617-244-2280 or laresidenciaspa.com).
