Supply and demand, stocks and bonds, mergers and acquisitions. Don’t know about you, but the jargon of the international marketplace puts us in a mood to shop.
And, conveniently enough, an international market has recently opened its doors right near Black Falcon Pier, Boston’s hub of imports/exports.
Owner Nicole Cronin started Ku De Ta after years of watching fashions come and go from her perch at Jasmine on Newbury Street. But it was her intercontinental travel that cued her into the trends in Thailand, India, and Europe.
Her acquisitions merge native influences with all-American urban style — wrap skirts with sleek A-line cuts from Thailand, hot-weather dresses from India, and psychedelic-poster-art stretchy T-shirts from Spain’s Hayes label.
The shop’s accessories, like gem-drizzled earrings from young designers in New York and fat Fendi-style belts, make the market value of any outfit soar.
It’s worth tipping off your favorite fashion-obsessed pal and taking her along.
It’ll give you time to bond while you stock up.
Ku De Ta, 663 East Broadway, South Boston (617-269-0008 or kudetaboston.com).
