It’s been a while since macaroni necklaces and photo collages made the grade for gift giving.
But since funds have been low (you’re still recovering from “shots-are-on-me” night), you’re tempted to revert. But everyone is begging you: Do not. go near. the glue stick.
Instead, grab a seat at Joyce Roessler’s South End studio for a night of jewelry making. In the beginner class, you choose from glass beads (which she hand-blows at Diablo Glass) and craft them (with supervision) into earrings and a necklace.
Or just buy one of her chunky necklaces or vibrant rings, which come in stunning color combinations named Ocean, Bright, and Dynamic. Some are inlaid with gold leaf; others are intricately layered with sterling silver and beads.
But try the class first.
Because, unlike macaroni, these handmade goodies are sure to last a lifetime.
Classes are held December 14 and 19 and January 9, 6:30-9:30 p.m. Roessler Glass, 46 Waltham Street, suite 600, South End (617-426-4705 or roesslerglass.com).
