Going Against the Grain

Classes at Highland Woodworking

They say that idle hands are the devil’s playthings.

(And by “they,” we mean any person suspicious of your knitting, brow threading, and lymphatic massage skills.)

Find blessed busywork (and professional supervision) in Highland Woodworking’s classes.

Workshops are held upstairs from the Virginia Highland shop and are taught by furniture makers, smiths, and wood restorers. One-session classes cover everything from the basics (French polishing, wood turning, power tool safety) to the truly impressive (pen making, gold leafing, and ornate carving methods).

Since materials and tools are included in class fees, the laid-back instructors go out of their way to send students home with something — anything — to show for themselves.

In your case, a very good thing.

You’re already fidgeting in anticipation.
