Whether you ski, ride, or just keep the barstools warm, you have mountains to tackle. Head north for incredible deals, freshly groomed runs, and the newest slopeside digs.
Before you leave, stop by The Tannery for form-fitting fleeces and ski jackets by 66° North, then swing by Down to Basics for a monogrammed comforter. Don’t forget sunscreen: The Skin Cancer Foundation has put its seal on new product lines like Freeze 24-7 and Shiseido.
Where to begin? How about Ski Vermont’s 3 or 5 Pass: $125 for three tickets or $200 for five. Use one for Sugarbush where a new, $45-million base village offers a cozy retreat after the moguls. At Stowe, construction crews are still working on ecofriendly resort and village Spruce Peak, but the Alpine Concierge team is already in place.
If you prefer après to the slopes, book at The Wentworth in New Hampshire (preferably a room with a two-person Jacuzzi), then wander through snow-covered streets of Jackson for a bite, a drink, or just to soak in the scenery.
Find out what’s so fun about a 650-foot tubing track at Maine’s Big Rock mountain. But if you’re only going down on a board (read: backside), check out The Yard at Sugarloaf, a newly opened terrain park. Finally, wind down with a much-awaited drink at The Widowmaker Lounge.
After all, that’s the whole reason you came. Isn’t it?
