Set Yourself Free
La Verdad Opens

Oh, Mexico. We’ve had some fun, haven’t we?
Shooters in Cancun. Sandy encounters in Cabo. That memorable run-in with good ol’ Montezuma.
We hate to admit it, but we need a break. Especially now that La Verdad is open.
Our old friend chef Ken Oringer and his buddies Patrick Lyons and Michael Ginor have brought us a new sit-down spot complete with an enormous tequila selection and takeout counter (for lunch or late night). And the menu is dead-on delicious.
Their recipe for handmade tortillas rivals yours, and their tacos — like the crunchy pescado (fried fish dressed with pureed avocado and crema) and the smoky tongue on the “Benny lengua” — take us right back to el D.F.
We’ve been salivating over the tortas (griddled sandwiches with meats, refried beans, and Oaxaca cheese) and seafood cocteles (smothered in pineapple cocktail sauce). They even nailed your Mexi-goth ambience with the old-school wrestling masks over the bar.
So you can keep your sun and mezcal.
For now, we’ve got all the fiesta we need.
