Buck Up, Buttercup
Babycakes Opens

Flash back to your fifth birthday. You in a pretty pink party dress. Mom’s cupcakes. Sally and Steven watching with glee as you grab their treats and recklessly smear the icing across your face.
Ah, the good ole days.
Revisit the feeling with a visit to Babycakes. The Quincy bakeshop opened this spring selling cupcakes and cupcakes alone. Owner Kerri Lynch-Delaney, a sweet tooth through and through, hand-makes every single one, from the larger-than-life French toast version (which tastes, undeniably, like the flattened, drenched-in-syrup version) to the strawberry shortcake (vanilla cupcake, stuffed with sliced strawberries and whipped cream).
Our favorite, however, has to be the Babycake. Like a big-girl version of a Hostess cupcake, it’s a frenzy of chocolate stuffed whipped cream and dipped in ganache. Only problem? Once Lynch-Delaney sells out of her daily rations, she shuts down for the day.
Sad? Well, it’s your party; you can cry if you want to.
