When it comes to your closet, your theory has always been the darker the better.
Funeral suits hang next to inky dresses and too. much. gray.
Lighten up, Buttercup. Lola has landed in Newton Center with bright, contemporary clothing and a rainbow of accessories.
It’s a feminine little shop with petal pink walls, zebra-print chairs, and framed prints of vintage photos. Everything’s illuminated with wearable designers, including Tocca, Tibi, Charlotte Ronson, and Denim of Virtue. You’ll perk up at drapey Saint Grace tops, a juicy Hawaiian-print dress by Lani, and a strapless empire-waist dress in multicolored print silk by Jully Kang. And clutches and bangles are like a ray of sunshine to your wardrobe.
Proprietors Caitlin and Seth Holton are experts at assembling a quick and fun mix (they earned their chops opening their first Lola in Boulder, Colorado).
And just who is the eponymous Miss L.?
We’re going to leave you in the dark.
Lola, 77 Union Street, Newton Center (617-964-0054).
