The Clothes Make the Woman

The Hepburn Pant

When asked by Barbara Walters if she owned a skirt, Katharine Hepburn’s response was that she did. And that she’d wear it to Ms. Walters’s funeral.

Without question, the woman had balls, as well as the ability to shun the girly garb of the day for the more practical (and empowering) look of the pant.

After stuffing our closets with cutesy dresses (not to mention the hours wasted shaving — and reshaving — our legs), we’re more than ready to channel the sultry screen star with this season’s revival of the classically practical yet ultra-flattering Hepburn pant.

Made for women who actually have more to do than stand there looking pretty, the pants are wide legged, slightly loose, and loads more comfortable than anything with ribbing. Pair them with a nautical top and a pair of flats or pull out your heels and hottest shirt for a night out with the guys.

Because if Hepburn taught us anything, it’s that dressing like a man doesn’t make us any less capable of ravaging them.
