Tape It Like Beckham

Kinesio Taping

Usually, when swaddling yourself in tape, “Monster Mash” is on a loop, and you’re desperately assembling a last-minute Halloween costume. (Too bad mummification hinders your dance moves.)

For a far more beneficial binding experience, try Kinesio Taping.

Developed in Japan, the muscle treatment possesses mysterious curative powers. When applied to an injured body part, the elastic tape expands (or sometimes contracts) injured muscles, allowing them greater movement and flexibility as they heal naturally over several days.

The therapy already has its athletic converts: Beckham and Lance for starters. But the enigmatic trussing isn’t just for weekend warriors. It’s also been used to treat carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic back pain, and arthritis; it can even help heal deep scars.

The CW among stalwarts? We don’t know exactly how or why, but by Britney, it works.

Spooky, huh?
