Down to the Wire
Lazy Man’s New Year’s Party

T-minus fifteen hours and you’ve got nuthin’. How to pull off an in-home bash without even trying? The folks at The Catered Affair have got your back.
Decor
2 dozen helium-filled balloons (mix of white, silver, gold)
Stack of index cards
Hole punch
5 Sharpies
As guests arrive, hand each one a balloon and a card. Have them write their resolutions on the cards, tie each one to a balloon, then release it to the ceiling. Et voila: decor and party favors.
Meatball Sliders
Serves six
Ingredients
1 16-oz. bag of frozen meatballs
1 28-oz. can of quality tomato sauce
2 loaves French bread
Grated Parmesan cheese
1. Heat meatballs according to package directions.
2. Heat tomato sauce. Toss meatballs in sauce. Simmer.
3. Slice bread into four-inch lengths, then slice open slightly for the meatballs. Place bread in basket.
4. Keep meatballs warm on stove, place basket of bread and Parmesan cheese nearby.
The Gang’s All Here Punch
Serves six
Ingredients
2 qts. cranberry juice
1 bottle cheap sparkling wine (or ginger ale)
½ cup Rose’s lime juice
1 pint of orange sherbet
1. Pour first three ingredients into a punch bowl. Add sherbet. Serve.
