Hip to Be Square
Hotel Indigo

Hearts aflutter, afire, affixed to your sleeve.
Might be time to embrace a less cliche shape. Say, the rectangle?
Newton’s newest boutique hotel, Hotel Indigo, draws its inspiration from the symmetry and simplicity of the Fibonacci sequence (a totally cool mathematical formula). Even the dimensions of the headboards are two successive Fibonacci numbers, creating a “golden rectangle.”
All those hard lines shouldn’t detract from the hotel’s warming spirit, though. Let the spa-style showers, LCD TVs, and luxe bedding lure you into taking a midwinter escape (without actually, you know, traveling).
And for those who never really do stop (hello, CrackBerry) there’s a sleek little fitness center and high-speed Internet access.
For a measly ten grand, they’ll throw together the ultimate Valentine’s Day proposal package — complete with a night at the hotel; breakfast; late checkout; a bottle of Dom; and, of course, a 1.5-carat diamond ring.
We suggest working all your angles for that one.
Hotel Indigo, 399 Grove Street, Newton (617-969-5300 or hotelindigo.com).
