Sweet Breads

Citrio Catering & Provisions Co. Opens

You’ve exhausted the corner deli, neighborhood cafes, and convenience counters with halfhearted success. The quest for a fortifying combination of fresh bread and tasty ingredients marches on.

How hard can it be to find a good sandwich?

Now that Citrio has opened, it should be a piece of (ice cream) cake. Wielding a “fresh, seasonal, delicious” agenda, Eric Bogardus, Mark Stein, and Jeffrey Fournier (chef-owner of 51 Lincoln) have established the detail-oriented destination for lunch, snacks, catering, and take-out.

Built on house-baked bread, your new favorite is sure to be waiting. Perhaps it’s the pulled pork with cider glaze and jalapeno Napa cabbage slaw? Or maybe you’ll go for fresh soups, pizzettes, salads, and pastas instead. Homemade ice cream is a nod to the location’s legacy as the original site of the first Brigham’s store.

Sounds like you’ve got that sandwich problem licked.

Citrio Catering & Provisions Co., 2 Hartford Street, Newton Highlands (617-969-1234 or citrioboston.com).
