Snack Attack

Ming’s Bings at Blue Ginger

ming's bings are da bomb!

You’ve been known to stumble into Chinatown for some late-night noshing. But no amount of cold tea has ever made that sticky plate of General Tso’s taste authentic.

For a more enjoyable Asian street food experience, head to Wellesley (yes, Wellesley), where Ming Tsai has just expanded and reopened Blue Ginger, complete with a casual lounge serving snack-size plates and authentic cheap eats.

The list of mostly $10 dishes includes Ming’s Bings (no, seriously), which are hamburger bun-shaped pot stickers filled with traditional gingered pork, slow-braised red roast duck, or mushrooms and tofu.

Dig into shareable dishes like chicken-filled lettuce cups, crab rangoon with cranberry chutney, and sweet potato and taro fries dipped in chili aioli. Or stick your fork into the chef’s signature sake-miso-marinated butterfish — at $21, it’s the priciest thing on the menu.

And far tastier than anything you’ll be able to find drunk or sober.

Blue Ginger, 583 Washington Street, Wellesley (781-283-5790 or ming.com).
