When the Moon Hits Your Eye

Tavolo Restaurant Opens

pizzazy!

Crispy. Thin. Pretty darn cheesy.

We’re not talking about your last date but the awesome pizzas at Tavolo.

Chef-owner Chris Douglass opens his third spot tomorrow (officially, thanks) about a block away from his Dorchester haunt, Ashmont Grill. This time, it’s cheapity-cheap Italianate food all for under $15.

Thin crusts, make-your-own antipasti boards, and lasagna del giorno’s only the half of it. Vamp up your ’za with fresh white anchovies, followed by a sick Nutella panini and small-batch grapefruit or pistachio gelato.

Walls come topped with Hello Kitty-style chalk drawings by local artist Kiki Ikura, and there’s a curtain of empty wine bottles between the bar and dining room.

Order a twelve-inch from your seat on the Red Line and they’ll have it hot and ready by the time you hit the Ashmont stop.

There’s nothing cheesy about that.
