Puffy paint. Glitter. Little brother’s finger paints. That’s what little girls’ art boxes are made of.
Big girls use a new set of toys (spray paint, stickers, and Sharpies included), which Paint Pens in Purses is about to show off.
Started by Boston gals Shayna Shenanigans and Kim Harris, the group showcases female artists in intimate settings (so you can get up close with the talent).
Tonight’s debut show pairs riveting pics by Heather McGrath alongside painted stilettos by Harris. Also on view: Nineta’s drawings, Shenanigan’s deceptively sweet illustrations, and Illy L’s spray-paint masterpieces.
The ongoing series comes back this fall with a hand-painted window display. The goal is to create a space where women can continuously show their work.
Along with some sugar, spice, and everything nice.
Tonight, 7-10 p.m., at Via Matta, 79 Park Plaza, Back Bay (617-422-0008 or viamattarestaurant.com). For more information, go to alwaysonthegrind.wordpress.com.
