Cheers! Sláinte! Salud!
No matter how you say it, raising a glass means there’s something to celebrate.
We’re currently toasting Barbara Lynch and Drink, her new Fort Point bar that honors the artistry of mixing cocktails, opening tonight.
Embracing the nabe’s inherent grunge chicness, the space houses a snaking white oak bar set against original brick walls — upon one of which is a row of 19th-century bug boxes (ask about the beetles’ wings for a history lesson). Behind the bar, mixologist John Gertsen creates the ultimate barkeep’s lab. A 50-pound ice block sits at one end, and bottles are hidden below deck so only glassware is on display.
There’s no drink list here; instead, request a flavor, a liquor, or a mood, and they’ll whip up your poison, whether it be a pitcher of martinis or a revived gin concoction.
A selection of canapes like foie gras lollipops and gougeres should help soak things up.
But we recommend drinking it all in.
