Eat Your Heart Out

Some might classify having a decent meal out with the kids an oxymoron. We say that’s moronic.

A few of the city’s swankest spots know kids appreciate food. On January 2, Aura (1 Seaport Lane, Seaport District; 617-385-4300) kicks off Fine Dining, Family Style (Tuesdays and Fridays), transforming the dining room into a kid paradise with a suitable menu, toys, and a relaxed attitude.

Instead of threatening to lock them in their rooms for flinging food, take little urchins to Clink (215 Charles Street, Beacon Hill; 617-224-4004). Set in a former jailhouse, the resto has remnants of cells, complete with bars. They’ll willingly eat pretzel bites, macaroni and cheese, or spaghetti and meatballs.

Or watch mini gourmets scarf up the hot dog baguette, fish sticks and frites, or salade de fruits at Petit Robert Bistro (468 Commonwealth Avenue, Kenmore Square; 617-375-0699; 480 Columbus Avenue, Back Bay; 617-867-0600; 45 Chapel Street, Needham; 781-559-0532).

Because everyone deserves the meal deal.
