That’s So Money

Things in the Financial District have been eerily quiet.

Is it that last round of layoffs? Or the bitter, ass-numbing cold?

More likely, everyone’s hunkering down at the opulent new Bond, which opened inside The Langham last week. With its gorge chandeliers; swank, mirrored bar; and blown-up financial bonds on the walls, you’d hardly notice, either. (Recession? What recession?)

The food takes a walk on the loungey side with snack-size plates of lamb kafta meatballs and spicy clam and pancetta pizza, plus a lineup of heartier entrees like scallops with crispy pork belly.

But the real luxuries lie with the desserts: a Vietnamese chocolate and coffee tart with an espresso vodka sidecar, cheesecake lollypops next to dippable Pop Rocks.

You might need to access your savings for a seat.

But hey, a girl’s still gotta eat.
