Kids can be a total pain in the neck.
But when a couple of sweet superstar chefs like Ken Oringer and Jaime Bissonnette (from Toro), produce offspring like Coppa, which opens tomorrow, it’s bound to be a bundle of joy.
Like any apple of the eye, theirs is one parent’s namesake (for Bissonnette’s favorite salumi) and the other’s handsome features (the white subway-tiled bar is topped with wood reclaimed from Oringer’s home kitchen).
The menu is a refreshing mix of classic Italian (cavatelli with chicken sausage, fresh burrata with sea salt), wood-fire pizzas (you can see the oven through the sidewalk window), and stuzzi (small plates like sea urchin panini).
The playful finds on the all-Italian wine list were pulled together by Bissonnette’s wife, Courtney.
They like to keep it in the family.
