How to kill time in a hotel room: watch pay-per-porn, get drunk 50 milliliters at a time, sexercise.
Or, if you’re Lauren Manoogian, make jewelry. (Sure, why not?)
The former knitwear designer and avid world traveler started her line, Manu, in a hotel room in Japan after getting inspiration from some dollar-store finds. One necklace became two, and before long, Manoogian had a whole collection.
Now she draws in equal parts from the search for new and interesting materials, traditional textiles and culture, and contemporary art. The geometric designs exude influences of ethnic clothing and decor. We’re especially fond of her current creations that consist of leather bangles, paper garlands, and drinking straws.

First-time commenter, too. Puh-leeze! These are the results of a kindergarten arts-and-crafts project that we've all seen before. If it weren't so ridiculous, I'd be insulted.

I have to agree! I also have never commented on anything from the Daily Candy but this one was sooooo Ridiculous that I had to say something. Seriously necklaces made out of straws and inspired by dollar store items for $75.00 or $130.00. Ya I don't think so.

Ditto to the two other commenters. I've never commented on a Candy update before but this one is too much...Is this serious? This person started with "dollar store finds" and is now selling what looks like the kindergarten's class project for $130 a pop. HA! Good luck. This one is a miss Daily Candy, for sure!

Daily Candy...you're a day late for the April Fools prank that I can only assume this jewelry is meant to be. $130...Seriously???

Normally I love any Candy related to jewelry, but this is a total miss. $130 for 2 strands of cheap leather, cut up drinking straws and vinyl tape? Get serious. I would never spend that kind of cash for a something that looks like what my neighbor's kid brings home from day camp. Boo.

yes, I agree. this is stupid. But anyway, not only is this a joke, but there is another jewelry designer, whose work is really authentic and cute, who trades by the name of Manu from Washington, DC. She has been doing it for QUIIITE a long time, so I hope the public does not confuse this straw-Manu- designer's work with Washington, DC Manu (www.manujewelry.com ) . For shame..
