Louis Opens
Debi Greenberg’s waterfront retail oasis, complete with name tweak, just debuted. (Salon Mario Russo and the second-floor restaurant will soon follow.)
Why: The decidedly different 25,000-square-foot aluminum and mahogany structure (wall graffiti!) houses the same found-nowhere-else brands (Balenciaga, Peter Pilotto, Brian Reyes) as well as the institution’s well-loved housewares and Music Bar.
When: Mon.-Wed., 11 a.m.-6 p.m.; Thurs.-Sat., 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

Earth Dinner 2010
Ecominded eateries (Hungry Mother, Bistro Les Gras) cook sustainable menus to benefit Chefs Collaborative.
Why: Braised pork belly and blue Maine mussels ($60) at Stanhope Grille, humanely raised Vermont veal and Carlisle Farmstead cheese ($75) at Lumiere.

B&G Oysters Second Annual Oyster Invitational

What: The bivalve bonanza returns with unlimited mollusks from Matunuck and Salt Pond, bite-size lobster rolls, and oyster-friendly wines and suds.
Why: New features include a silent auction, small plates from area restos (O Ya, Oleana), and Beer & Bivalves tutorials at Stir.
When: May 2. Sun., noon-6 p.m.

A South End Design Moment at J.E.M.

What: Preview delicate, latticed porcelain vases and bowls ($175-$425) from South End ceramicist Isabelle Abramson while downing Peronis and owner Jane Miller’s heritage tea cocktails.
Why: Mingle with designers (including Peter Griglik from Jonathan Adler and Dennis Duffy) behind the upcoming Urban Showhouse.

Hairraising Cut-a-Thon
Newbury Street stylists get snippy with $40 cuts (walk-ins welcome) to benefit Children’s Hospital Boston.
Why: The John Frieda mobile salon (outside The Shops at Prudential) offers 30-minute styling sessions for a $25 donation.
When: Sun. Cuts, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; mobile salon, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Earth Day Charles River Cleanup
