Chicago’s manic weather patterns have our spandex in a bunch. But (knock on wood) it seems the cold has finally dissipated. In honor of short shorts, flip-flops, and packed-up parkas, here are the best, newest ways to tone and sweat while enjoying the sun.

West Loop Fitcamp
When we wrote about trainer Stephanie Turner way back in 2006, she’d just launched her personal training studio. Five years later, she’s still going strong (literally). Her latest offering is West Loop Fitcamp, a mix of cardio, resistance training, and yoga that takes place in Mary Bartelme Park. Ask about the unlimited summer package (two Fitcamp classes and one yoga class per week through August for $400). Call 312-523-3131 or sign up here.

TruHarmony Yoga in the Park
What better place to practice hot yoga than under the sun? Thanks to TruHarmony’s outdoor yoga classes (starting June 4), you can. Instructor Eden Newmark’s 60-minute hatha-vinyasa combo at Erie Park is powerful and cleansing. Pre-register (required) online at truharmonyyoga.com.

Flying Trapeze School
For a totally unconventional workout that’s sure to get your heart racing, try a just-launched trapeze class at Belmont Harbor. Instructor Steve Hammes teaches you everything from safety to tricks.

Summer Slim Boot Camp
Get your butt kicked by Hank Ebeling and Nicole Kupish, two trainers who conduct high-energy, 60-minute workouts in Grant Park. Work on conditioning, body-weight exercises, core, and agility drills. Try it out for free; classes run for eight-week periods. To sign up, email h4training@gmail.com.
