Start with a caramel at Amy’s Candy Bar, a Ravenswood sweets boutique opening today. The 50¢ confections (in flavors like sea salt, chocolate, raspberry, and passion fruit mango) are The French Pastry School grad Amy Hansen’s specialty.
After years of ogling her grandma’s brownies, Hansen went to school (a.k.a. the kitchen). Today, she whips up gourmet sugar cookies and chocolate-dipped pretzels, custom cupcakes, nougat, and more.
Glass jars filled with candy buttons and lipsticks, pinwheels, and Mallo Cups, along with Chocolate Shoppe ice cream, add a nostalgic air to the European confectionary.
Take your kid or just your kid at heart. Either way, be sure to get your fill.
