Turns out the eighth wonder of the world is right here in Chicago.
Clues:
a) It’s near Millennium Park (nope, not the Bean).
b) It’s Italian (no, not Giuliana Rancic).
c) It’s messy (not Blagojevich, smart ass).
It’s the new Monticelli mud wrap at Fuga Centro. The just-opened spa on Lower Michigan has unmarred views and impeccable treatments to match.
Fuga’s Italian owners import their product from Parma — the same region that’s home to Terme di Monticelli, a centuries-old rehabilitation spa renowned for its algae-rich, thermal waters.
After rubbing you with an oil-based exfoliant, your aesthetician briskly applies the mud. Like magic, it heats up on your skin. Then you’re cocooned in a blanket (allowing the minerals to detox, firm, and relieve muscle aches) and treated to a scalp massage.
One steam shower and cellulite-firming cream application later, and, well, it’s a wrap.
Available at Fuga Centro, 8 South Michigan Avenue, at Madison Street, suite 200 (312-332-3842 or salonfuga.com), $135.
