You don’t need ESP to know that when moms chitchat about carpooling and potty training, they’re actually fantasizing about going to the spa.
Let’s thank the mind reader who opened Urban Mom Salon. The new Bucktown oasis is staffed with licensed babysitters who watch your child while you get your hair and nails done.
The pampering begins when you drop off your sidekick in the playroom and settle in next door with a coffee. Once you’ve perked up, indulge in a blowout, haircut, wax, mani, and pedi given by stylists and technicians happy to make friendly, non-Elmo-related conversation.
Meanwhile, kiddo has the run of a wooden train table, pretend kitchen, blocks, basketball hoop, and dress-up clothes. She can also dabble in a craft project or snack on free Goldfish and graham crackers — all while you relax, blissfully unaware.
See? Dreams do come true.
Urban Mom Salon, 2143 North Damen Avenue, at Shakespeare Avenue (773-687-8346 or urbanmomsalon.com). Nail services start at $8; hair services are $35 and up; child care is $7 for the first child and $4 for each additional child.
