When it comes to ice cream, you don’t monkey around.
So you’ll go bananas for Sweet Ape, a top-secret underground ice cream parlor.
The 150-person, invite-only get-togethers take place in a West Loop loft with amazing skyline views. A $10 entry fee gets you beer, music, local artists’ work, and, most importantly, artisanal ice cream.
We promised we wouldn’t name names, but rest assured one ice cream maker is a French Pastry School grad and the other has a library dedicated to ice cream science. Local and organic when possible, flavors run the gamut from Thai tea to bourbon cornflake.
The October 15 parlor menu includes tiramisu, rose cava granita and almond cream (vegan), and clotted cream with Turkish granola — with a burlesque show and photo booth on top.
And that’s the scoop.
