Dismissing twentysomethings is as easy as it is fun (c’mon, there’s time in the day to say, “F#$% my life”).
That is until a youngin debuts a store that’s easy to love. The Edit quietly opened last week in Bucktown, bringing much-needed energy to Damen’s bleak big-box takeover.
Twenty-five-year-old owner Morgan Gutterman knows her stuff. She studied fashion at Columbia College before working at numerous boutiques. The Edit is an amalgamation of everything Gutterman wants in a shopping experience: interesting designers, personal attention, and fair prices.
The selection includes basics (DL1961 jeans, Brandy Melville sweaters), edgy exclusives (Parisian designer Charlotte Martyr accessories), and everything in between: Rachel Rose dyed silk tops, Otis & Maclain textured silk separates, Bod & Christensen leather jackets, and a slew of Australian gems (Bec & Bridge, One Teaspoon, Chip Chop).
We’ll say it: It’s TDF.
The Edit, 1917 North Damen Avenue, at Cortland Street (773-252-3350 or shoptheedit.com).
